Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office located?

Please note that I am offering exclusively telepsychiatry services, and therefore do not have a physical location for us to meet at this time. I do offer appointments over a HIPAA compliant, privacy encrypted video interface similar to Facetime, at no additional charge to you. All you need is a laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone and a quiet, private space to talk.

What takes place during the initial consultation visit?

During this visit, we will review your mental and medical health history in order to get a comprehensive understanding of you. At the end of the visit, we will discuss an integrated plan of treatment, which may include bloodwork, referral to other specialists, therapy, behavioral goals, and/or medication. This initial visit is quite thorough because it forms the basis for your treatment plan.

What types of therapy do you perform?

  • Psychodynamic therapy

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT)

  • Exposure response therapy (ERP)

  • Supportive therapy

  • Motivational interviewing

  • Mindfulness

I believe psychotherapy to be a crucial aspect of mental healthcare, and in certain cases, more important than medication-focused treatment. I will usually incorporate some form of therapy into each visit, as I have found it to be helpful in understanding clients in general, and can even help guide medication management.

How long are appointments?

The initial evaluation is 60-90 minutes. Follow up visits for medication management are 25 minutes, and therapy appointments (with or without medication management) are 50 minutes.

Do you treat children or adolescents?

At this time, I treat only adults ages 18 and up.

Do you take my insurance?

I am not on any insurance panels, but can provide you with a superbill which you can submit to your insurance company. In the meantime, the full visit fee will be charged to you as you await the reimbursement from your insurance company in the form of a check in about 4 weeks. Most companies will pay 20-80% of the visit cost. You can determine how much your insurance company will cover by calling customer service, and asking about “mental health out-of-network benefits and coverage”.

What do I do in case of emergencies?

I typically respond to messages within 48 business hours (8 am-5 pm), often sooner. However, if you are in a crisis and need immediate evaluation such as in case of a severe drug reaction or side effect, thoughts of suicide, thoughts of hurting others, or any other emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room for evaluation.
